Retreats at The Dwelling Place draw from the Franciscan tradition of spiritual contemplation. Saint Francis, himself, often sought secluded settings to pray, and he encouraged his brothers to do the same. He outlined 'The Rules for Hermitages' which he saw as a helpful guide for time spent in solitude.
The hermitage experience is unique. For some, it serves as a challenging opportunity to confront God for growth in his life and love. For others, it's a time and place of rest.
Through quiet and solitude, many of the illusions and worries that clutter our hearts and daily lives drop away, presenting a clear view of the Almighty's direction.
The Dwelling Place provides an atmosphere for spiritual renewal through prayer, spiritual counseling, and private or directed retreats.
Private retreats...
can emphasize personal growth or healing while focusing on an individual's relationship with the Creator in his or her special life circumstances. Private retreats can last a day, a weekend, a week, or a month.
Directed retreats...
are guided experiences designed and adapted for individuals. They are times of personal reflection, meditation, and scripture. Daily meetings with a retreat director are available, if desired.
