Dwelling Place Community Update

I think our last legal hurdle has been crossed: our application to be listed in the Official Catholic Directory has been approved. We can now be about building community and doing the ministry of The Dwelling Place.

We continue to extend invitations to all interested Christians who:

Needs list

As in any home or business, occasionally our needs for small and large items overwhelm us as many of our machines have "bit the dust" because of age and use. If anyone could help us with any of these items, new or used, we would be most grateful.

Sisters of St. Agnes Award Grant for Ministry to Abused and Addicted

The Sisters of St. Agnes of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin have awarded a $3000 grant to The Dwelling Place to subsidize our ministry to the abused and addicted. We are most grateful for their support.

We extend a special invitation to anyone who is/has been in counseling or active in A A or Alanon or is a victim of abuse to let God in to heal the wounds of addiction, violence, abandonment, and abuse.

Tom Abel

A Friend Visits

Do you recognize this old friend? He is someone who knows this property well- but it wasn't called The Dwelling Place when he was here.

In case you have not guessed, it is Tom Abel, who was the founder of Our Lady of Brooksville Abbey back in 1968. Tom stopped as he was passing through. You are always welcome, Tom. Come again.

Annunciation K C volunteers

Anunciation K C s Help June 22

Ruby Forrester, Joe Haftek, Lou DeFillipo, and others pause to enjoy a lunch during their hard work as the Knights and spouses helped us out one June Saturday. They cleared the forest and did a variety of yard work that never ends! The forest is beautiful and the yard (and staff) say Thank you!

Catholic Foundation Awards Grant for
Stations of the Cross

The Catholic Foundation of Jackson has awarded a grant of $1000 to partially fund the erection of the Stations of the Cross.

We are very grateful for the support these foundations and the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, whom we mentioned in our last newsletter. It is through the generosity of others- individuals and groups, that we are able to continue to spread the reign of God in this corner of Mississippi.

Scholarship Fund

We are now inaugurating a Scholarship Fund that will provide moneys for assistance to the needy. If you would like to make an offering to this fund, know that it will be used to provide an opportunity for someone who otherwise would be unable to come. Your charity would, in a very real way, be touching many people's lives.

Fee Increase in 2003

Due to our rising costs it is necessary for us to raise our fees. Beginning Jan. 1, 2003 the fee for a day of retreat, meals, and an overnight will be $60 or $120 per weekend. Our actual costs are double that. The remainder is covered by donations. Scholarships are available for those unable to pay.
