October 14- women from Saint Patrick Church in Meridian spent the day reflecting on and praying with 'The Woman at the Well.' Like that woman, Jesus challenges us today and desires to draw us into a deeper relationship with Him.
"It is such a joy to see my design come to life," says Karen Henry who is pictured as she was creating her mandala during the November 2-3 retreat 'Create Your Own Special Mandala' lead by Mary Margaret Hickman. Participants had the opportunity to create several as they became more familiar with the process. The next question? When can we do this again?
'Earthbound and Mystical: Using the Psalms as a School of Prayer' was the topic of the retreat day conducted by Sister Nancy Schreck, OSF on November 17. Exploring the various psalms in light of personal experiences was just a part of this very enriching day.▲▼
The year 2012 was a year filled with enriching experiences for The Dwelling Place. First of all, we are grateful to all who came for retreat and prayer. You are why we exist. God is so present and active to all who come.
Then to provide a proper setting for you, nearly six months were spent remodeling the interior of the dining room and insulating and re-siding the dining room and chapel. They are beautiful as well as energy efficient; however, though cost saving in the long run, it is strapping us on the short term. We continue to trust that these needs will be met.
We thank ALL who have volunteered for and took part in our many fundraisers and helped our physical plant needs. We thank University Baptist Youth from Starkville for their service.
In July we started our long range future planning which has set in motion efforts at visioning, staffing, and focus for the future. We continue to ask your prayer for this.
We thank you for responding to our Annual Appeal and year-end giving. Our usual Mardi Gras Drawndown will not be held in February but will be in April. We look forward to sharing this party with you then!!
God's blessings be yours in 2013.
